Points of Interest Toronto | Places You Must Explore

With awesome spots like the Royal Ontario Museum, the Raptors, and the Maple Leafs, plus beautiful parks, beaches, and the iconic CN Tower, it’s tough to pick just a few top things to do in Toronto when there’s so much to see and experience. The CN Tower is right in the middle of downtown Toronto, making it super easy to check out a bunch of other cool spots nearby, whether they’re just around the corner or in one of the fun neighborhoods in Canada’s biggest city.

If you’re in the city for just a day or hanging out for a week, whether it’s your first trip to Canada or you’re a local just chilling at home, there’s a ton of stuff to add to your Toronto bucket list no matter the season.

Allan Gardens Conservatory

Allan Gardens is one of the oldest parks in Toronto, featuring six greenhouses filled with a cool mix of plants from all over the globe. The gardens span 16,000 square feet and are home to all sorts of plants, from cacti to palm trees. A cool spot right in the city, this botanical gem features a historic cast-iron and glass dome that’s been around for over a century! Allan Gardens is open daily, and you can check it out for free!

Toronto Islands

If you’re looking to escape the craziness of Canada’s biggest city, just take a quick 15-minute ferry ride over to the Toronto Islands. In the middle of the city’s tall buildings, this group of islands and islets offers a nice green escape. The three connected islands – Centre, Ward’s, and Algonquin – make it super easy to get around without having to hop on a boat all the time, so you can check out the whole area without any hassle. Every one of these main islands has its own vibe, making sure there’s always something cool to find each time you visit.

Centre Island really delivers on its promise with tons of fun stuff to do, like picnic spots, beaches, sports rentals, and the Centreville Amusement Park. This park has over 30 rides, a petting zoo, and a cute little boating lagoon. On the flip side, Ward and Algonquin offer a chill vibe with charming 1920s-style cottages and lovely English gardens.

Aga Khan Museum

The Aga Khan Museum is seriously one of the coolest museums that I’ve visited, and it has an awesome collection of Islamic art. It’s a little outside the city, in Don Mills, and gives visitors a peek into the artistic, intellectual, and scientific heritage of Muslim civilizations over the years. The Aga Khan Museum aims to encourage tolerance and foster understanding among folks from all walks of life and beliefs.

High Park

High Park is such a cool spot right in the middle of Toronto, and it’s easy to see why so many locals and visitors love it. This huge park covers about 400 acres and is a great spot to chill out away from the busy city, plus it’s got some really nice natural scenery.

High Park really shines with its beautiful green areas and nicely kept gardens. In spring, the park is filled with beautiful cherry blossom trees that bloom in amazing colors, drawing in lots of people who come to check them out. High Park has a bunch of cool spots for nature lovers, like peaceful ponds, forested areas, and even a little zoo. Grenadier Pond is definitely a favorite spot in the park. It’s a chill place where people can fish or just kick back by the water.

Distillery District

The Distillery District is one of my favorite spots in Toronto, with its cobblestone streets, cool historic buildings, and cute little shops and coffee places. This charming little village has a cool mix of old and new, with pedestrian-only streets packed with unique galleries, restaurants, and cafes all set in those classic Victorian-style brick buildings. Start your night out here with some dinner or drinks!

Eaton Centre

Right in the middle of downtown, Toronto’s Eaton Centre is a classic shopping spot that’s got a ton of stores to make any shopaholic’s heart skip a beat. This huge mall, featuring a cool glass ceiling and over 250 stores for every budget, is a must-visit spot for tourists.

Graffiti Alley

Graffiti Alley is one of Toronto’s hidden gems. You won’t believe your eyes when you witness the incredible murals and street art in this little-known treasure. It definitely makes for a cool spot to snap some pics while you’re exploring the city!

Nathan Phillips Square

Nathan Phillips Square is a well-known plaza and event spot that throws concerts and festivals during the (super brief) summer months. In winter, the square has my absolute favorite ice skating rink in the whole city! Whether you bring your skates or grab a pair to rent, this classic Toronto experience is one you definitely don’t want to skip. Oh, and don’t forget to take a pic with the super famous ‘TORONTO’ sign while you’re there!

Niagara Falls

There’s an amazing waterfall just outside of Toronto that you have to see. It’s just a quick drive from downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls, Ontario—takes less than 2 hours! You can check out a bunch of cool ways to enjoy the fun and beauty of the falls. You really have to check it out in person to feel the magic yourself!

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

If you’re heading out with the kids or just love the underwater scene, you might want to check out Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. The aquarium has more than 16,000 aquatic animals and shows off different galleries of freshwater and saltwater habitats from all over the globe. So many fun things to do and cool displays will keep you occupied for hours.
