Toronto has a lot of famous things: its skyline, its tall skyscrapers, its rich food culture, the Raptors, the Maple Leafs, and a lot more besides. Additionally, it is worth including the famous fall foliage. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to take in the changing leaves, here are a few parks and nooks that are perfect for autumn views!
Also, the most welcoming (and terrifying!) season of the year has arrived, so take out your knit sweaters, burn some candles, and stock up on pumpkin spice. We must cherish every second of autumn, so begin soaking up the atmosphere by taking part in these must-do fall activities in Toronto!
There are several reasons why residents like this park. Given its location between Dundas and Queen Street, walking, bicycling, and public transportation are convenient ways to get there. The CN Tower and the Toronto skyline look fantastic against the placement and alignment of the trees.
With the park’s rows of trees and benches, it’s an excellent location for taking autumnal photos! You can also take in a live performance, have a picnic, or watch dogs run around on a playground without leashes.
Pro Tip: As you go through the park, try to frame the skyline or the CN Tower with leaves. You can see the vista above from the top of the slope west of Dog Bowl!
A great example of what may occur when the community and city work together to revitalize an abandoned facility is Evergreen Brickworks. It was formerly an industrial site and a quarry, but it is now one of Toronto’s treasures. There are farmers’ markets, hiking trails, and native ponds all around it. It also provides some fantastic skyline views, particularly in the fall!
Pro Tip: For a broad overview of the city, visit the Governor’s Bridge Lookout and Don Valley Brickworks Park Lookout. Photographing a person strolling through a scene might give the viewer a better sense of scale.
High Park‘s fall foliage doesn’t really need an explanation. Just across Ellis Avenue, you can enjoy breathtakingly serene early-morning reflections over Catfish Pond or Grenadier Pond. There are playgrounds, a kid-friendly zoo, lovely treks, and much more.
Pro Tip: When the water is quiet early in the morning, you have the best chance of getting reflections on the lake that resemble mirrors.
For many Torontonians, the Toronto Islands are a favorite summertime vacation. But fall is the best time to visit because of the milder weather, more vibrant colors, and less tourists. There’s no better way to get away from the hectic city life than this. Travel to the island by boat or water taxi, then spend time at the southern beach, on a stroll or bike ride, or having a picnic. All of this is possible while the fall foliage is all around you.
Pro Tip: On Cibola Avenue, next to Sunfish Cut, you may capture some of the best skyline shots. Algonquin Island Park and Snake Island provide a framing for the skyline and the CN tower.
David A. Balfour Park is an urban park next to Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue in Toronto’s Deer Park district. A sizable open area on a reservoir, decorative fountains, reflecting pools, a gated garden retreat, and a kids’ playground are a few of the park’s highlights. The park’s forested valley empties into a branch of the Don River. There are pathways that join the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail and drop down into the ravine.
Pro Tip: To create a visually appealing picture, add leading lines using wooden fences or steps.
Along the Martin Goodman Trail, Coronation Park is located directly east of Ontario Place. The park is by the coastline, and taking pictures of the shadow play at sunrise or sunset is highly recommended! The park has perfect lighting for photos because there is shade all year round.
Pro Tip: If you want to escape the crowd and catch soft light, get up early in the morning. Deeper into the park, the low sunlight casts whimsical shadows.
Crothers Woods, in East York, is close to Beechwood Drive and Beechwood Crescent. It offers 10 km of natural pathways, a diversity of birdlife, and a perspective of Toronto. There are about 9 km of naturally occurring dirt pathways, the majority of which are multipurpose. This area is home to numerous old trees, some of which are over a century old, as well as uncommon flora and fauna.
Pro Tip: In order to direct readers’ attention in a photograph, use curved roads and trails.
Toronto in the fall is such a delight! The colorful leaves, the fresh, crisp air, and those warm, inviting places really bring out the best of autumn. The city has so much to offer, from lovely strolls in High Park to stunning views by the waterfront.
